1. Introduction

Welcome to The Counselling Corner (TCC). These Terms & Conditions explain the general terms under which our counselling services are provided and our website is used.
By enquiring about, booking or attending our counselling services, you agree to the applicable terms discussed and agreed with your counsellor or TCC representative.
Please read these terms carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before beginning counselling.

2. Our Counselling Services

The Counselling Corner provides counselling services intended to support individuals with their emotional wellbeing, personal development and life challenges.
The services available, including online and in-person counselling where offered, will be explained before your appointment is confirmed.
Counselling is a collaborative process. Outcomes vary between individuals, and we cannot guarantee a particular result.
Counselling is not a substitute for emergency medical care or other urgent support services.

3. Booking and Appointments

Appointments must be arranged through the booking process agreed with TCC.
Before counselling begins, you will be informed of the appointment format, session duration, applicable fee and any relevant arrangements.
Please provide accurate contact information and notify us if your details change.
For online appointments, you are responsible for having a suitable device, a reliable internet connection and a private space where you can participate safely and confidentially.
If technical difficulties arise, your counsellor will discuss reasonable arrangements for continuing or rescheduling the session.

4. Fees and Payment

The applicable counselling fee will be communicated to you before your appointment is confirmed.
Payment methods, payment deadlines and any applicable additional charges will be explained in advance.
Where fees differ according to the counsellor, service or session type, the agreed fee will be confirmed before counselling begins.
Please refer to our Fees page for further information.

5. Cancellations and Missed Appointments

We understand that circumstances can change and that appointments may occasionally need to be cancelled or rearranged.
Please notify TCC as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Our cancellation notice period, any applicable cancellation fee and the arrangements for missed appointments will be communicated to you before counselling begins and included in your counselling agreement.
If your counsellor needs to cancel or rearrange a session, you will be informed as soon as reasonably possible and offered the applicable alternative arrangements.
Please contact us if an unexpected circumstance affects your ability to attend.

6. Confidentiality and Privacy

Confidentiality is an essential part of the counselling relationship. Information shared during counselling will be handled respectfully and in accordance with applicable professional and legal requirements.
However, confidentiality is not absolute. Information may need to be disclosed where required by law or where a disclosure is justified by serious safeguarding concerns, a significant risk of harm or another applicable legal or professional obligation.
Where appropriate and lawful, your counsellor will explain the reasons for any necessary disclosure.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.
Privacy Policy: [Insert link to the Privacy Policy]

7. Safeguarding and Risk

TCC takes safeguarding and the wellbeing of clients seriously.
If concerns arise about your safety, the safety of another person or a safeguarding matter, appropriate steps may be taken in accordance with applicable law, professional guidance and our safeguarding procedures.
Where possible and appropriate, these steps will be discussed with you.
Counselling appointments are not an emergency response service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the relevant emergency services.

8. Client Responsibilities

To help create a constructive counselling environment, clients are expected to:

  • Attend appointments on time and provide notice of cancellations where possible.

  • Communicate respectfully with their counsellor and TCC staff.

  • Provide relevant information needed to arrange and deliver counselling safely.

  • Respect the agreed appointment arrangements and boundaries.

  • Raise questions or concerns about the counselling process when they arise.

  • Follow the payment and cancellation arrangements agreed before counselling begins.

TCC aims to provide a respectful, inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

9. Online Counselling

Where online counselling is available, clients should take reasonable steps to ensure their surroundings are private and suitable for a counselling session.
Clients should avoid recording, photographing or sharing counselling sessions without the express agreement of the relevant parties and confirmation that doing so is appropriate and lawful.
TCC will explain any relevant arrangements concerning online platforms, privacy, confidentiality and technical interruptions before counselling begins.
Online services may be affected by internet connectivity or technical problems. Appropriate alternative arrangements will be discussed where necessary.

10. Counselling Boundaries and Professional Conduct

Counselling is provided within agreed professional boundaries.
Clients are expected to communicate respectfully with counsellors and other members of the TCC team. Abusive, threatening or seriously inappropriate behaviour may result in a review of the arrangements for providing services.
Where a counselling relationship cannot appropriately continue, TCC will seek to explain the position and, where appropriate, discuss alternative support or referral options.
Any decision to end or suspend services will be handled in accordance with the applicable counselling agreement, safeguarding responsibilities and professional obligations.

11. Complaints and Feedback

We welcome feedback and take concerns about our services seriously.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your experience, please contact TCC and explain your concern. We will aim to acknowledge and address complaints fairly and appropriately.
Our complaints process, including the appropriate contact person and any relevant external professional body or complaints route, will be provided or made available upon request.
Complaints contact: [Insert designated contact details]
Making a complaint will not, by itself, prevent you from raising a concern through another appropriate route.

12. Website Content and Intellectual Property

The content on the TCC website is provided for general information about our organisation and services.
Unless otherwise stated, website text, branding, graphics and other materials may not be copied, reproduced or distributed for commercial purposes without appropriate permission.

13. Website Links and External Services

Our website may contain links to external websites or services for additional information and support.
These external websites are not necessarily operated or controlled by TCC. We are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
You should review the applicable terms and privacy information of any external service you choose to use.

14. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any applicable statutory rights.
Subject to that principle, TCC will take reasonable care in providing its services and maintaining its website.
Information on this website is general in nature and should not be treated as a guarantee of counselling outcomes or as a substitute for appropriate medical, legal or emergency advice.
Any applicable limitations of liability must be interpreted in accordance with the law governing the relevant service and the circumstances concerned.

15. Changes to These Terms

TCC may update these Terms & Conditions when necessary to reflect changes in our services, operating procedures or applicable legal and professional requirements.
The latest version will be published on this page, together with the date on which it was updated.
Where a change materially affects an existing counselling arrangement, we will communicate the relevant information as appropriate.

16. Applicable Law

These Terms & Conditions are subject to the laws applicable to the relevant services and contractual arrangement.
The governing law and jurisdiction should be confirmed by TCC before publication, taking into account the organisation's legal status, location and the services it provides.
