Diversity Statement

Creating a counselling space where everyone can feel respected, heard and accepted.

Our commitment to inclusion

At The Counselling Corner, we believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

We recognise that people’s experiences are shaped by many aspects of identity and lived experience, including culture, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion or belief, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, neurodiversity, socioeconomic background and family or relationship circumstances.

We aim to provide a counselling space where people can talk openly about their experiences without fear of judgement or discrimination.

Respecting individual experiences

We understand that there is no single experience of mental health, wellbeing or personal difficulty. Culture, identity, relationships, community, family, work and wider social circumstances can all influence how someone understands themselves and what brings them to counselling.

We will take time to understand what matters to you and how your experiences have shaped you.

We will not make assumptions about your identity, beliefs, relationships or circumstances.

A space to be yourself

Our aim is to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, openness and mutual respect.

You should feel able to tell us if something does not feel right, if we have misunderstood you, or if there is something about your identity or experience that you would like us to understand better.

We welcome conversations about difference and recognise that openness and curiosity are important parts of working respectfully with one another.
